Café del Mar enhances Wi-Fi performance with Smart Technologies and Ruckus Networks

Café del Mar Malta is not just a destination for great food and music, it is a venue that regularly welcomes large crowds, especially during high-energy summer events and private functions. To meet growing demand and ensure seamless coverage throughout the venue, they partnered with Smart Technologies to implement a high-performance Wi-Fi solution based on Ruckus Networks technology.

 

THE NEED FOR RELIABLE, HIGH-THROUGHPUT CONNECTIVITY

Café del Mar’s layout and guest numbers present a unique challenge. With hundreds of users simultaneously connected, particularly during events, the existing system could not keep up. Weak spots, signal drops and slow upload speeds were common.

 

ENGINEERED FOR DENSITY

Smart Technologies worked closely with the Café del Mar team to design a solution that addressed the venue’s structural layout, user density, and real-time usage patterns. Using predictive heatmapping tools, engineers identified the optimal placement of access points to ensure even coverage and strong signal strength in high-traffic zones.

Ruckus access points, built specifically for high-density environments, were deployed strategically to maximise throughput and minimise interference. The end result is a Wi-Fi network that performs reliably, even under peak loads.
